Friday Night Sanctuary Markets at Currumbin
If you are here on a Friday, dinner is decided. The Sanctuary Markets have run on the Village Green at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary since 2014, and they are an easy walk from the apartments.
When and where
Every Friday from 4pm to 9pm, on the Village Green at the corner of Tomewin and Teemangum Streets, Currumbin. Entry is free, parking is free on the street, and from Sandbox it is an 850-metre walk along Pacific Parade and Tomewin Street. You do not need a Sanctuary ticket.
What to eat
Street food from a dozen countries on one lawn: Greek gyros, Brazilian barbecue, pad Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Turkish, Venezuelan, South African, Chilean, Indian and Italian, with gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian stalls and a serious dessert line-up. The undercover craft area has local makers, and a produce market in the Sanctuary car park across the road is where to stock the apartment fridge for the weekend.
What to drink
The bar is run by the Sanctuary and licensed, pouring Burleigh Brewery beers and Sirromet wines, and the money goes back into the park. Local musicians play through the evening, and in winter the deck is heated.
How we do it
Be at the Sanctuary entrance at 4pm for the free wild lorikeet feeding, then walk around to the Green as the stalls open. By 6pm the lawn is full and the queues are longest, so eat early or late. Bring a rug for the grass and leave the dog at home; pets are not permitted. Walk back along the beachfront as the lights come on.
Nearby on the same evening
Astra Lumina, the Sanctuary's after-dark light walk, runs on its own ticket after the park closes. Saturday morning, the Palm Beach Currumbin Farmers' Market runs from early until around 11.30am at the high school on Thrower Drive.

Do we need a ticket to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to visit the markets?
No. The markets are on the Village Green outside the ticketed park, and entry is free.

Yes, about 850 metres, five to ten minutes, along footpaths the whole way.
Are the markets on when it rains?
The craft area and the deck are under cover and the markets usually run; in heavy weather check @sanctuarymarkets before you walk up.
